6 Determination of GSM of Supplied woven & Knitted fabric

“Determination of GSM of supplied woven & knitted fabric”

Ò      Details of the experiment: Determination of GSM of supplied woven & knitted fabric is the weight of 1 meter  in gram.

Ò      Testing atmosphere: The atmosphere is not commercially created. It’s a normal lab where the approximate temperature is 20 c and the relative humidity is approximately 65%. In the lab the light was quite good for testing the experiment.

Ò      Tools:  The tools are:
·         A Woven & Knitted fabric.
·         A round cutter.
·         An Electronic Balance.

Ò      Procedure: The procedure of counting GSM is very easy. First of with normal tension we have to cut two pieces of fabric both woven and knit. Then we have to weight those fabrics. Then with the help of equation we will get the result.

Ò      Experimental Data:

Ò      Calculation: The calculation of this experiment is quite easy. To calculate the GSM we just have to calculate 1 meter from 100 cm. Then we just have to calculate the average.

Ò      Results: The result is the fabrics we marked GSM are;
§  55.48 g/meter in woven.
§  279 g/meter in knit.

Ò      Precaution:  The main precaution in this process is to maintain the standard tension of the fabric. If it changed the experiment will not be perfect.

Ò      Conclusion: There is nothing tough in this testing. But everyone should concern about those precautions and the atmosphere. I had faced no problem while doing the experiment.
